Arrest Made In The Murder Of A Former Temple Football Player

The Philadelphia Police have arrested a 22-year-old in the murder of Zaire Williams, a former Temple University football player.

Officials said Anthony Nieves was arrested by the Philadelphia Police on Friday, March 6th, 2020, at approximately 11:45 A.M.

He was arrested and charged with the following offenses Murder, Aggravated Assault, Simple Assault, Possession Instrument of Crime, Recklessly Endangering Another Person, Violation of Uniform Firearms Act-No License and Violation of Uniform Firearms Act-On Streets.

On Monday, February 2nd, 2020, at approximately 4:07 A.M., 22nd District Officers responded to Temple University Hospital for a report of a male shot. Upon arrival, they met with medical personnel who stated that 25-year-old Zaire Williams was shot once in the head and transported to the hospital by private auto. He succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced by at 4:38 A.M.

Police say the shooting was a result of a fistfight.
