Police: Man Accused Of Punching Pregnant Girlfriend Found Hiding In Closet

Ridley Township – Police make arrest in the January assault of a pregnant woman, according to authorities.

Officials said on Monday, January 27, 2020, at 8:54 PM, The Ridley Township Police received a call in reference to an assault victim at the WAWA in the Holmes section of the township. 

Upon arrival, officers made contact with a female victim who was barefoot and 9 months pregnant.  There was a contusion on the left side of her face that was being tended to with ice, according to police.

The victim told officers that she lived across the street with her boyfriend Jason Costa.  Officials said the woman told them that when Costa came home in the evening, he was very argumentative and accused the victim of cheating on him.

According to the victim, the argument became physical when Costa pushed her to the ground.  Furthermore, Costa slapped the victim across her face, according to court records.

Police said when the victim attempted to use her phone to obtain assistance, Costa punched her on the left side of the face.  The victim then fled the apartment to the WAWA.

Police checked the apartment but Costa had already left the scene. 

A warrant was issued for Costa and on Friday, February 7, 2020, at 2:06 PM, The Ridley Township Police Department arrested him in the 2300 Block of MacDade Blvd. 

Costa was located hiding underneath clothes in a back bedroom closet.
